The launch of the HSBC Malta Foundation sponsorship was held on 2nd August 2017.
Structural works have been carried out. Two ceilings have been changed due to the irreparable damage to the stonework. This work required manual intervention to ensure protection to original stonework and workmanship. Some other internal non-structural work was also done to prepare the blockhouse, which will comprise the main visitor facility.
Cleaning and pointing of internal stonework and electrical installation have also progressed at ground level. Apertures have also been installed to secure the tower from unauthorised access.
Another important achievement was the removal of overhead electrical supply cables. After the necessary trenching works, all supply cables are now laid in underground channels, thus restoring the majestic view of the tower without any visible distractions.
